This year as we journey through Lent we are focusing on "The Way of Suffering", the name given to the path Jesus took to the cross. Each week we will hear challenging sermons from Scripture that invite us to reflect, to come alongside those who are suffering and bear their burdens together. In that spirit, we also have some ways to form faith with one another.
Community Groups will be reading, reflecting and discussing each week's Psalm using the ancient Scripture tool of "Lectio Divina" We've also provided journals for you to write, draw, doodle, collage and reflect with. See your Community Group Leader to get your journal & click here to learn more about Lectio Divina!
We have two different Lent book studies this year. A group led by Pastor Lanta and hosted at Melissa Sheffer's house will be reading Grounded by Diana Butler Bass on how we connect and find God in the world around us. The other group will be led by Trey and will meet Wednesdays at 7pm at Argosy Restaurant & Bar in East Atlanta and will be reading/reflecting on Howard Thurman's classic "Jesus and the Disinherited".
We will be hosting an artist market on November 12 from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. Admission is free for shoppers! It will be held in the fellowship hall of the church, which is across the street from the northeast corner of Grant Park on Park Ave and Sydney St.
Over 20 local artist vendors selling their arts and crafts! Many vendors will be able to accept cards for payment. Seasonal refreshments will be available to purchase with cash. There will be a raffle where you could win gifts and gift cards from local Grant Park and Ormewood Park businesses who are sponsoring the event. All proceeds benefit local community support programs. We look forward to seeing you all at the artist market and watching local artists showcase their skills. Thanks for supporting a great cause!
