PARK AVE. PARENTS
For parents Park Ave. is a place for radical parents to share and learn from each other as we navigate raising free people. This is a church where parents can learn different ways of affirming our children's inherent belovedness, to keep their free spirits, which so often show us the divine within us all.

PARK AVE PARENT PRINCIPLES
Here are some concepts that frame our approach to decolonized education...
Radical Acceptance
Our young people are welcomed and accepted no matter when and how they show up. We see the spirit of God in them just as they are.
Invitations
Our young people are invited to join the Children’s Moment each Sunday without coercion. We welcome their participation and never judge children who choose to stay with their families, continue their art work, or engage through listening.
Faith Formation
We offer parents tools to use at home as they develop what faith in action looks like in their families as their children grow
Consent
We model consent even at the youngest ages. Children’s voices matter to us. Children in our community understand that the word “no” holds power and deserves respect.
Abolition
We teach, learn, and live abolition at PABC, and that includes our children. Abolition in our children’s program means we love and support each other, and that our children know in their hearts that we keep each other safe
Teachers - Learners
Our young ones are not just the receivers of our wisdom, they are also the teachers. Encouraging parents to learn from their little ones is a way to reverse the order of the patriarchal hegemonic system and definitely something Jesus would do.
JOIN OUR PARENT CIRCLE
As we build back our family attendance, we would like to relaunch the parent circle, beginning with Akilah Richard's inspired text, "Raising Free People." Join the circle and hear more about it.
